Modi-Kejriwal are anti-Dalit and anti-reservation: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi said- Kejriwal was talking about drinking Yamuna water five years ago, now he is holding press conferences with bottled water
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister, BJP and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in a public meeting held in Jahangirpuri in support of party candidates. He said that Kejriwal was talking about drinking Yamuna water five years ago, but now he is holding press conferences with bottled water. He tells lies one after the other. He had said that he will bathe in Yamuna and drink its water. He challenged Kejriwal to leave aside Yamuna water, drink the water that the people of Badli are drinking.
Rahul said that he tried to understand Kejriwal in the beginning and found that he is also anti-reservation and anti-Dalit like the Prime Minister. Kejriwal and Modi are both the same, they talk empty things, lie, are anti-reservation and anti-Dalit, do not want to give a share in power to the Bahujan Samaj and want to keep the power in their hands only. He alleged that during the Lok Sabha elections, Modi had said that if we get 400 seats, we will change Ambedkar’s constitution. He also mentioned the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat says that the country did not get independence on 15 August 1947, but Modi gave it. This simply means that BJP and RSS want to end the constitution. They are working against brotherhood and equality in this country. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated because he was fighting against hatred and for brotherhood. The ideology of the person who fired the bullet is running India today. There is a battle between two ideologies in the country, on one side is the ideology of RSS-BJP, which spreads hatred. On the other side is the ideology of Congress, which opens the shop of love.
Congress has always fulfilled its promises. Congress never makes false promises, because the relationship between Congress and the public is of love and brotherhood. Referring to Jahangirpuri, he said that Indira Gandhi had settled it, a mini India lives here, but today this area is yearning for clean water, pension and basic amenities. So, you should never forget who is standing with you, who is protecting your rights and who is making false promises.
The interests of Dalits and backward classes were ignored in the 90s
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said in a program on Thursday that just giving political representation to Dalits and backward classes is not the solution to their problems, but they should be given participation in institutions and property. When the original base of Congress will come back, BJP and RSS will have to run away. This will happen soon. During Indira Gandhi’s tenure, Dalits, minorities and backward classes had full faith in Congress, but later in the 1990s there were some shortcomings and the party accepts this truth.

India News | Running to Apply Buddha Dhamma on Body and Mind. International participation in marathons fosters global peace by bringing together people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs in a shared pursuit of endurance, resilience, and personal growth.

Running, when approached with mindfulness, aligns deeply with the Buddha Dhamma's teachings on the body and mind. In running, one becomes acutely aware of bodily sensations--breath, heartbeat, muscle movement, and fatigue--mirroring the Buddha's emphasis on mindfulness of the body (kayanupassana). Simultaneously, the mind is engaged in observing thoughts, emotions, and mental resistance, much like mindfulness of the mind (cittanupassana). The impermanence (anicca) of physical sensations and shifting mental states becomes evident, teaching detachment and acceptance rather than clinging to comfort or resisting discomfort. Running can cultivate equanimity (upekkha), as the practitioner learns to flow with the experience instead of being overwhelmed by transient pain or pleasure. Moreover, the rhythmic, meditative nature of running fosters present-moment awareness, dissolving the illusion of a fixed self (anatta) and creating a state of unity between movement and mindfulness. In this way, running can serve as a dynamic meditation, embodying the Buddha's path of self-discipline, awareness, and liberation from mental suffering.
Keeping these principles in mind, the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) in collaboration with the Bodhgaya Marathon Committee (BMC) and with support from Government of Bihar is organising its Second Edition of Bodhgaya Marathon (Run for Global Peace) on Sunday, 16 February 2025 in Bodhgaya, Bihar. The endeavour aims to induce compassion among people, its society thereby reinforcing the need for unity and peaceful co-existence amidst all kinds of natural and man-made complexities that the world is facing today.
The difference between running and a marathon lies in their purpose, intensity, and commitment. While running is a general activity that involves moving at a steady pace on foot, primarily for fitness, mental well-being, or enjoyment, marathon requires rigorous training, endurance, and mental resilience. Unlike casual running, a marathon demands strategic pacing, hydration, and energy management to avoid exhaustion. Completing a marathon is often seen as a test of physical and mental limits, requiring discipline and perseverance. While running can be spontaneous and relaxed, a marathon is a goal-oriented challenge that pushes individuals beyond their comfort zone, often leading to personal transformation and a deepened understanding of perseverance and impermanence, much like the teachings of the Buddha on patience and endurance.
The marathon is said to be a journey of self-transcendence, revealing that neither pain nor triumph defines the self (anatta). Crossing the finish line is not just an external achievement but an inner realization: every step, like every moment in life, is temporary, and true peace comes from embracing the present without attachment.
International participation in marathons fosters global peace by bringing together people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs in a shared pursuit of endurance, resilience, and personal growth. The Second Edition of Bodhgaya Marathon will witness significant representation from the Buddhist community across the world with participation from international runners, as also the Armed Forces of India. Around 3000 runners will come together from 18 countries across the globe. Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon'ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Government of India along with His Eminence the 13th Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche are expected to flag off the marathon from Kalachakra ground in Bodhgaya at 0600 hours on 16 February 2025.
The Bodhgaya Marathon route is designed to be a sacred pilgrimage, taking the runner through places of religious significance that have shaped the very essence of spirituality in the area. In addition to promoting global peace, the event has an extended objective of developing the villages and roads connected to the marathon route, which are also significant locations visited and inhabited by Lord Buddha such as Sujata Stupa, Dungeshwari, Dharmaranya Temple etc. The event may also be seen as an effort to project an out of the box practice of Buddha Dhamma and how India can take a lead in that on the holy land of enlightenment. Supreme Court Makes Key Observations in SC/ST Atrocity Case

The Supreme Court has made significant observations in a case related to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The court stated that for an offense under Section 3(1)(r) of the 1989 Act to be proven, the accused must have deliberately insulted or intimidated a person belonging to the SC/ST community in a public place, in the presence of others. Citing this reasoning, the court dismissed the case in question.
In the latest case, the incident allegedly occurred within four walls, and the FIR mentioned that the complainant’s associates arrived at the scene only after the incident had taken place. The bench, comprising Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih, pointed out that the alleged act did not occur in a public place where others could witness it. Accordingly, the court quashed the case, reiterating that for an offense under Section 3(1)(s) of the Atrocities Act to be established, the accused must have insulted the complainant using caste-based slurs in a public setting.

The state government has reduced Rs 500 crore from the Rs 1,370 crore allotted to 20 programmes for Scheduled Caste (SC) /Scheduled Tribe (ST), citing the state’s financial constraints. This includes cuts to the housing scheme under the Life Mission project, with the allocation reduced from Rs 300 crore to Rs 120 crore.
Funding for the M N Memorial Laksham Veedu project under the Housing Board has also been slashed from Rs 3 crore to Rs 1 crore. As a result, the Housing Board will receive a total of Rs 16 crore, down from Rs 36.50 crore for all its projects. Other reductions include the Rs 222.06 crore initially allocated for the completion and renovation of houses, now reduced to Rs 173.06 crore, and the land purchase amount cut from Rs 170 crore to Rs 70.25 crore.
Additional affected programmes include the aid for conducting weddings, which was reduced from Rs 86 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, the 'Vatsalya Nidhi' programme for girl children, which has been cancelled, and cuts to various schemes such as the Government Medical College in Palakkad (Rs 50 crore to Rs 20 crore) and the Ambedkar Village Scheme (Rs 50 crore to Rs 30 crore).
Furthermore, the Rs 9 crore set aside as equity capital for welfare schemes under the Scheduled People’s Development Corporation has been reduced to Rs 1.5 crore.
Karnataka High Court rejects plea for SC/ST, OBC quota in Advocates Association Bengaluru polls

Justice R Devdas dismissed the petitions filed by the All India Backward Classes Advocates Foundation and Karnataka SC/ST Backward Classes and Minorities Advocates Federation.
The judge said the petitioners should move the Supreme Court instead with their prayers.
The petitioners moved the Court seeking parity citing the recent Supreme Court order that directed AAB to to ensure representation of women lawyers in its governing council by reserving at least 30 percent of seats.
However, the High Court said the Supreme Court had issued such directions while exercising its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution.
Given that the existing bye-laws of AAB did not have any provisions for caste based reservation in its elections, the High Court cannot exercise its powers under Article 226 to issue directions similar to those issued by the Supreme Court in case of representation of women lawyers, Justice Devdas said.
However, the High Court noted the petitioners’ submissions that the AAB has never had any SC/ST/OBC office bearer and that since it has already made provisions to reserve seats for women candidates in its governing council, it might as well make similar changes to accommodate reservation for SC/ST and OBC candidates as well.
“The Advocates Association, Bengaluru is a body that has members from the Bar and also receives funds from the State. The petitioners submit that when once decision is taken by AAB to provide reservation for women it has enabled provision for reservation and therefore, all reservation provided in the Constitution, be it vertical or horizontal, will have to be provided,” the Court noted.
But it said that it did not wish to make any comment on the resolutions made by AAB to implement the Supreme Court order and said if the petitioners believed they were entitled to similar benefits, they too should approach the Apex Court.
On January 24 this year, the Supreme Court had ordered AAB to ensure representation of women lawyers in its governing council by reserving at least 30 percent of seats.
A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh had also directed AAB to reserve the post of the treasurer in its governing body exclusively for women candidates.
