In Shivpuri, 40 families left Sanatan and adopted Buddhism: People of Jatav community said – untouchability in religious events, asked to lift leaves

POSTED ON FEBRUARY 4, 2024

In Shivpuri, about 40 Jatav families left Sanatan and adopted Buddhism. Those who convert say that they are subjected to untouchability in the village. The matter is of 31 January. Its video surfaced on 2 February.

Shrimad Bhagwat Katha was organized on 31 January in village Bahgwan of Karaira in Shivpuri district. People of Jatav community say that different tasks were assigned to all the communities and people in the event. Jatav community was given the task of picking up false cards. Due to this, he converted to Buddhism a day before Bhandara.

I will never consider Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh as God nor will I ever worship them. I will never consider Ram and Vishnu as God nor will I ever worship them. I will not believe in or worship any of the gods and goddesses of Hindu religion like Gauri, Ganapati etc.

I will never believe that God has ever incarnated. I will never believe that Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Vishnu. I consider such propaganda to be madness and false propaganda.

I will never perform Shraddha nor perform Pind Daan. I will not perform any funeral rites at the hands of Brahmins. I will follow the principle that all human beings are equal. I will try to establish equality. I will try to follow the path of Lord Buddha.

I will have mercy on every living being. I will take care of them. I will never steal, lie, propagate falsehood, drink alcohol. I will try to mold my life according to the three elements of Buddhism – knowledge, modesty and compassion.

I completely abandon the old Hindu religion, which considers humans inferior and harmful to human excellence, and adopt Buddhism. I fully believe that Buddhism is the only religion. I believe that I am being born again. I pledge that from today onwards I will behave according to Buddhism.

From the stage, the Buddhist religious guru read out the oath to the people of Jatav community.

The people of the society were insulted

State Working Committee member of Bhim Army, Mahendra Baudh said, work was distributed to all the society in Bhandara in the village. The Jatav community was given the task of serving plates and carrying false plates. During this time, someone from the village said, if the people of Jatav community serve pattal, then the pattal will get spoiled. In such a situation, they should be made to do only the work of removing false cards. After this the villagers said that if you want to pick up the false leaf then pick it up, otherwise go to your home after having food. Due to this bad behavior the Jatav community changed their religion.

Sarpanch said – got converted to religion by coaxing

Village Sarpanch Gajendra Rawat says that the allegations of Jatav community are baseless. The people of the society had distributed banana prasad with their own hands a day before. The entire village took Prasad and also ate it. Buddhist monks had come to the village, they seduced the people and converted them to religion.

The Sarpanch said, no work of any kind was distributed to any particular community in the entire village. Everyone has done all the work together. People from other communities have also served and raised false plates. Why was there no untouchability with them? They took back the donations given by the Jatav community. The villagers have also made donations again to fulfill it.

Collector said- matter is serious, will get investigation done

Collector Ravindra Kumar Chaudhary said, the matter has not come to our notice. I would like to find out why so many families converted together. It is important to investigate this matter deeply, because it is not possible for any person to convert to religion in just one day. The truth will be revealed only after investigation.
