10 families left the village after the gangrape of their daughter: Father in Gwalior said – Now the honor has been looted, these people can even kill

‘I took my brother outside the house at night to urinate. Meanwhile, an uncle caught hold of my face and threw me on the ground. There was another man with him, he was beating my younger brother. When mom and dad came out after hearing the noise, one of them took out a gun. Then an uncle took me inside the house. He did wrong things to me. After he left, another uncle came and he also did wrong things.
The 15-year-old gang rape victim narrated the entire incident in one breath. He has spoken to Dainik Bhaskar for the first time after the incident. Till now she used to talk only through her mother. When the police also came to take his statement, he got his statement recorded through his mother.
This heinous incident took place on January 29 with the victim living in a village in Bhanwarpura police station area of Gwalior. Police have arrested three out of four accused, the fourth is absconding. One of these accused is the son of the mine owner in whose mine the victim’s father used to work.
When Bhaskar’s team reached here, the victim’s family was leaving the village and going to Shivpuri. Met the family outside the village. The father said – If we stay in the village, they will kill us too. Will never return now. There is an atmosphere of panic in the village after this incident. Not only the victim’s family but also 10 tribal families have left the village.
By the time Bhaskar’s team reached the village to know the entire truth of the night of 29 January, the victim’s family had left the village. Neighbors told that the family has left the village out of fear. They set out on foot, must not have reached very far.
Following the route shown by the neighbours, Bhaskar’s team reached Bhanwarpura police station, 10 km away from the village, and found the victim’s family on the roadside. The family was waiting for some means to go to Shivpuri. All the household items were with him. Fear was clearly visible on the faces of the victim’s parents. The victim and her younger brother were playing with a puppy.
It seemed that the 15 year old victim was trying to forget the incident of that night. With great difficulty the victim’s father agreed to talk. It was also said that the entire family has to be safely taken out of the limits of Bhanwarpura before sunset.
Father said- That night my daughter was screaming, I could not do anything
Describing the incident of January 29, the victim’s father said that it was between 12 and 1 am in the night. We were all sleeping. Meanwhile, my daughter took her younger brother outside the house to urinate. After some time I heard her screaming. I ran outside and saw that my son had fallen down. A boy has caught him. The daughter was lying on the ground at some distance. A boy was sitting on his chest. He was trying to suppress her mouth. There was also a third boy, who was just watching the show.
Father said- I have problem in my leg, I take support of wood to walk. As soon as I moved forward to save the daughter, the boy watching the spectacle snatched the wood. I fell down. When my wife also came running out, the boy put a pistol on my chest. After this, two boys forcefully picked up the daughter and took her inside the house. Two boys raped her one after the other.
Mother said- If we get shot tomorrow, will you all come to save us?
One of the three accused who raped the minor is Akash, son of mine owner Gabbar Singh. The victim’s father said that I have been working for him for 15 years. One and a half months ago, he had come to Bhanwarpura from Shivpuri to work at his stone quarry. Didn’t know all this would happen. As soon as the father took the name of the accused, the wife said – Yes, tell me everything, if we shoot you tomorrow, will these people come to save us?
As soon as the wife said this, fear appeared on the face of the victim’s father. Pointing towards the daughter who was playing with the puppy at a distance, he said that he had no idea what had happened to her. If you guys mention it again and again, she will also question us. Saying this, the victim’s father picked up the wood lying nearby and folded his hands.
The victim with her brother. She is still scared after the incident.
Tribal families left the village, said – can’t spoil the honor
After talking to this family, Bhaskar’s team reached the victim’s village. This village is surrounded by stone quarries. Gurjars have rights over all the mines. Tribal people work as laborers in these mines. As soon as Bhaskar’s team reached the village, fear was clearly visible on the faces of the villagers. When he was asked about the incident of January 29, no one thought it appropriate to talk about it.
It seemed from his words that if he mentioned the incident, something untoward might happen to him too. Some people said in hushed tones that this is what happens here. Those people come, loot and go away. There is no police visible here. We have to stay with those people only.
When Bhaskar’s team took stock of the village after talking to the villagers, they were surprised to see that 10 houses in the village were locked. When people were asked, they said that it is understandable if someone loots money, but when honor is not safe then who will stay in the village. He told that apart from the victim’s family, ten more families have left the village. We will also leave in a day or two.
Ten houses in the village are locked in this manner.
20 bighas of forest department land was captured
Police have arrested three accused in this case. Accused Sanjeev Gurjar and Bunty Gurjar were arrested on 1 February. Sanjeev is one of the accused of gangrape. Bunty is his helper, at whose house the three accused stayed. He was standing some distance away at the time of the incident. He had shown the accused the way to the girl’s house.
The administration demolished the house of accused Bunty Gurjar in Bhanwarpura with a JCB on 2 February. Here it was found that the accused had encroached upon 20 bighas of forest department land. The administration also vacated the land. At present Sanjeev and Bunty Gurjar are on police remand.
Police have arrested three accused. Bulldozer was also used on his house.
Accused Akash’s father said – son did wrong
The third accused Akash Gurjar was caught on 2 February. He is the son of Gabbar Singh, who runs a mine in Bhanwarpura. The victim’s family had come to work at Gabbar Singh’s mine one and a half months ago. After talking to the villagers, Bhaskar’s team also talked to Gabbar Singh Gurjar. When we reached here, Gabbar Singh and his brother Ranveer Singh were sitting outside the house.
When both of them were asked about this incident, Ranveer Singh said, something wrong has happened to the poor man’s daughter. We ourselves had demanded action from the police.
He said that even though the accused belong to our community, we are with the victim’s tribal family. Akash’s father Gabbar Singh also said- Whatever the boys did was wrong.
Police said- the accused raped only for fun
When the police interrogated the accused, one of them, Sanjeev, said that all three of us had gone out that night thinking that they would do something like this today. Had reached there targeting another girl in the village. Had drunk liquor on Bunty’s farm. Bunty saved that girl. Said- A new family has come to the village. There is a lot there. Also showed the way to the minor’s house. We had to hunt, no matter what.
On this thinking of the accused, Gwalior SP in-charge Dr. Hrishikesh Meena said that this is a sick mentality. All four victimized a minor just to show their enjoyment and power. Those with such mentality can make anyone their target.
When asked whether the villagers were leaving their homes after this incident, they said that the victim’s family itself did not want to live in the village. As far as the rest of the people are concerned, there is no need to worry, the police will provide them security.

There was a horse fight with the police of 6 police stations: The bride’s brother had asked for protection from the police, first he had stopped the Dalit groom from riding the horse.

There was tight police vigil at the wedding of a Dalit girl on Sunday night. Police and officers from 6 police stations were deployed during the groom’s horse ride. The family had already sought protection from the police. For this reason, policemen remained deployed during the wedding in Toda village of Bahtukala police station area in Laxmangarh, Alwar. In fact, earlier too in this village a case of not allowing a Dalit groom to ride a mare had come to light.
Bahtukala police station officer Ramswaroop Bairwa said that 23 year old Sonu Kumar, son of Jagan Prasad, resident of Toda, had given an application in the police station a few days ago. ‘I want justice, not job’: How a Dalit professor is fighting against casteism in DU

New Delhi: Two sides of the slogans — Jai Shri Ram versus Jai Bhim — echoed in the air and Delhi Police stood like a wall between them. On one hand, the country was busy preparing for the construction of Ram Temple, while on the other hand, no one paid attention to the growing protest in a corner of Delhi. This was the 148th day of the fight of the former Dalit professor of Delhi University (DU) against the principal of Daulat Ram College. Holding the Constitution in her hands and filled with the spirit of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Phule and Savitri Bai, Ritu Singh is fighting a battle that now seems bigger than her own cause — she alleges that the university canceled her appointment in 2020 Did it because she was a Dalit.
From Azad of the Bhim Army to farmers in Punjab, laborers working in a hut in Delhi to DU students and small children with their parents, Ritu Singh’s opposition has come from a cross section of colleagues, comrades and even leaders. It has resonated with Congress leaders, including Congress leader Srinivas, former Delhi minister Rajendra Pal Gautam and former MP Udit Raj and BSP MP Girish Chandra.
Advocate Mahmood Pracha, representing the professor in the Delhi High Court, had said during the protests at Jantar Mantar two years ago, “Dr. Ritu Singh is today’s Ekalavya. Like Ekalavya, his thumb is being chopped off.”
Singh said, referring to the Delhi Police’s action in which it tried to break up the protests on January 10 by putting up a poster calling for the imposition of Section 144, “We were lathicharged, Blue flags removed… why am I being treated like this? Why is exploitation happening? In a democracy, the people and the streets are the strongest. The most powerful voice is that of the people.” However, Singh’s supporters said that no such order was passed when hundreds of people had gathered at the celebratory ABVP event in Ayodhya on January 22.
A moment of Bhim Army
An ad-hoc psychology professor, Singh joined Daulatram College in 2019, but within a year she was removed and her contract was not renewed. “The university VC is not suspending Savita Roy (principal) even after the charge sheet has been filed in the Delhi High Court,” Ritu, wearing a black muffler as a symbol of protest, told ThePrint. We are fighting for his suspension and we will not step back even an inch. His slogan is justice, not job.
28-year-old Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district of Punjab, has done PhD in Psychology from Delhi University.
On August 10, 2020, when Singh went to join Daulatram College, she was not given the joining letter. Singh claims that Savita Roy wanted to expel him because I had talked about Ambedkar and Dalits.
After Ritu Singh took the matter of her dismissal to the Delhi High Court, Savita Roy submitted a letter in her defence, which was signed by 35 students expressing their dissatisfaction with Singh’s teaching methods.
Amid allegations of poor teaching practices and caste discrimination, Ritu Singh’s case has reached the High Court and has given a boost to DU’s fledgling Bhim Army student federation. This is their first major protest, on January 22, more than 50 people were sitting on a dharna outside Gate No. 4 of DU Arts Faculty. This is their first mobilization in a campus dominated by All India Student Union (AISA), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students Union of India (NSUI). This protest is also giving Azad a much needed inspirational moment. The Dalit student movement in DU — Bhim Army Student Federation (BASF) — has been active since 2019.
While placing Jai Bhim blue flags on trees and flower pots near the protest site, BASF President at Delhi University Ashutosh Boudh said, this is not a normal fight. He said, “This is the first time that a Dalit professor in Delhi University is demanding justice for herself and that too in such a fearless manner. Their fight is the fight of the entire society.”
And Singh is also making sure that this fight is not just about her own rights. She sees a larger theme in her tragedy and has taken it upon herself to educate and equip others — she turned the protest site into a university classroom, with blue flags on the perimeter and refreshments for visitors/supporters — peanuts. and namakpare — available. She conducts Constitution classes here every day and reads the Preamble of the Constitution to the people who come to support her and the supporters sitting on the ground, ranging from the elderly to the youth, repeat it after her.
His tutorials are fascinating, people often ask him to repeat them if they do not understand an argument. Once she finished reading the introduction, one of the protesters asked her to repeat the line because she was speaking too fast. Unlike JNU professors Nivedita Menon and Ayesha Kidwai, who held open quiz sessions with students on campus, Singh’s approach appears to be more direct and engaging and those not paying attention face a rebuke — “Don’t beat around the bush. See. Look at your sister who is talking about the Constitution. You all are Ambedkar’s children.” In between, she also lashes out at Delhi Police.
Outside the university’s metro station, Singh tells students about her incident and gives them posters of her protest.
Ambedkar, Phule, Savitri Bai and the Constitution are mentioned repeatedly in Singh’s speeches. She says, “We got our rights because of Ambedkar. Is it a crime to talk about your rights? Is this rebellion? If this is rebellion then I will do it again and again.”
30-year-old Jamwant works as a daily wage laborer living in Ashok Nagar, Delhi. When he reached the faculty on January 22 to support Singh, he had books on Ambedkar which he had bought from Jantar Mantar. Like Jamwant, dozens of young and old people gathered and demanded justice for Ritu. However, most of them were men.
Jamwant, sitting under a tree near the protest site, said, “This is the fight of our community (Dalits). The administration has done wrong to our sister. They have fired him from his job, it is our responsibility to support him. That’s why I have come here.”
Police and university’s eyes
The local police and university are constantly monitoring their protests. SHO of Maurice Nagar police station, Bijendra Chhillar said, “We have removed them several times, but they keep coming back. These people are demonstrating without permission. Because of them, security has to be maintained here.”
Teachers at Daulat Ram College agree that Singh has been vocal on social issues. A professor, on condition of anonymity, said, “Even when she taught here, she was very vocal and expressed her views without any fear. The fight they are fighting is legitimate. It is everyone’s right to demand their rights.”
His fight with Daulat Ram College is not his first fight. Singh has been vocal on social issues and has previously participated in several protests at Jantar Mantar. She has also opposed the three agricultural laws of the Modi government. On January 31, he took part in the EVM Hatao rally at Jantar Mantar.
Even in religious politics, Singh gives a vocal challenge to the current Modi government. Holding the Constitution in his hand, he said, “The state should keep itself separate from religion, but what is the situation today? State sponsored politics and riots are taking place. As long as Ambedkarite people are alive in India, we will not allow the Constitution of India to be destroyed.”
The university administration is constantly monitoring this protest and the police informs the VC about the protests every day.
Citing that the matter is pending in the court, the university did not give any statement on this issue. Abbi, who has been the mayor of Delhi from BJP, said, “The university will accept the decision given by the court. We are bound by the court order. The matter is still under consideration, so it would not be right to say much.”
Online access
The movement has also received support online, with ‘Justice for Ritu’ trending on X on several occasions over the past few months.
On Facebook, Singh has added ‘The Activist’ before his name along with a picture of him addressing a rally as the cover photo.
With 1.46 lakh followers on Facebook and over 43,000 followers on Facebook, Singh is popular on the online platform. He has around one lakh followers on Instagram and his bio reads, “Activist, thinker, scholar and Ambedkarite”. Singh posts regular updates about her protest videos, including live streaming. One of his recent WhatsApp statuses read, “Thousands of difficulties will be seen, but the scene will be very beautiful when the struggle will make noise.”
Highlighting Dalit identity is a big part of their online presence. “We are constantly hearing propaganda of hatred and division,” he said at the protest site in DU on January 22. Therefore, it is my responsibility to express the words of Ambedkar.”
His protest site is also attracting YouTubers from small towns who are impressed by Singh’s oratory skills and personality. They take selfies with Singh and post them on their social media accounts. Singh also enjoys these fan moments. With her eloquence and patience, she is gaining somewhat of a star status among the protesters and is fast becoming the poster child of Ambedkar’s fight against the ongoing churning at Delhi University.
But amidst all this, they are focused on their fight for justice.
Singh said that she is standing here only because of Ambedkar. Ritu declares, “I will run the university from the road because a criminal did not allow me to teach in the college.”

Mandsaur. To recover its loan, the private finance company attached the house of a priest in village Bhilya Khedi of Nahargarh police station. But the way the attachment process was carried out, the policemen of Nahargarh police station who accompanied the employees of the finance company put humanity to shame. In 2015, a loan of Rs 3 lakh was taken from Mentor Finance Company Jaipur to build a house. The company had deducted Rs 20 thousand in the name of insurance and Rs 50 thousand in the name of other expenses.
In the presence of the police, the employees took out the household items one by one and kept them on the road. The priest’s 100-year-old elderly father was kept outside on the road along with his cot and other belongings. The priest had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh, it is being told that now it has become Rs 12 lakh including interest. Whereas the priest is also claiming to have paid some of these installments. Presently the priest is living on his brother’s farm.
In Mandsaur district, the priest was thrown out of his house along with his family for not paying the loan installment. Policemen from Nahargarh police station also arrived along with the employees of the finance company. Policemen have also misbehaved with the priest and the women of his family. Saturday’s incident is being reported in Bhilyakhedi village of Nahargarh police station area. Its video surfaced on Sunday.
Govind Das Bairagi, the priest of Shri Ram Temple in the village, had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh from Mentor Finance Company Jaipur in 2015 to build a house. Priest Govind Das Bairagi told that while giving the loan, the company had deducted Rs 20 thousand in the name of insurance and Rs 50 thousand in the name of other expenses.
In the joy of getting the loan, I donated Rs 10,000 to Sanvliyaji temple. After this, installments of Rs 70 thousand were also deposited. After this there was a lock down due to Corona. Then my father’s health deteriorated. Since then he has been on the cot. Got the operation done when wife’s health deteriorated. Married three daughters. I have a daughter who is blind. Could not pay the installments due to poor financial condition.
The priest told that I and my wife told the employees of the finance company who came with the police that we would deposit the installments soon. But our request was not even heard. Even my 100 year old father was taken out along with his bed and thrown in the street. All the stuff was taken out and kept on the road. Now I am forced to live with my elder brother on a farm. I have been insulted by taking such action, action should be taken against the culprits.
Action taken on court orders
Deepak Singh Rajawat, collection manager of the finance company, said that notices have been given to priest Govind Das several times but the installments were not deposited. He still has 50 installments left. The company had filed a case in the court of Mandsaur. The priest was not present there also. This action has been taken after the court order.
Loan taken for Rs 3 lakh became Rs 12 lakh including interest.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Shyamlal Jokchand, who had recently contested the Malhargarh assembly elections, also alleged that private finance companies have spread like mushrooms in Mandsaur Neemuch district. Their agents trick innocent people and give them small loans and keep half of it in the name of file charges and other charges. Then after paying the installment they harass you. The victim priest had also taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh. In this, 70 thousand rupees were already given, 70 thousand rupees were paid. Still the company is demanding Rs 12 lakh more along with interest.

If voted to power, I.N.D.I.A. bloc will remove 50 per cent cap on reservation: Rahul Gandhi
He also alleged that the BJP tried to topple the JMM-Congress-RJD government in Jharkhand as the chief minister was a tribal.
"Want to congratulate all alliance MLAs, (Champai) Soren ji as that they stopped the BJP-RSS conspiracy and protected the government of the poor," Gandhi said at a rally at the Shaheed Maidan here.
Gandhi claimed that Dalits, tribals, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) were made bonded labourers and their participation was lacking in big companies, hospitals, schools, colleges and courts.
"This is the biggest question before India. Our first step would be to get a caste census in the country," the former Congress chief said.
Noting that more than 50 per cent reservation cannot be given under existing provisions, Gandhi promised that an Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) government will 'throw out' the 50 per cent cap on reservation.
"There will be no reduction in reservation of Dalits and Adivasis. I am giving you a guarantee that the backward sections of society will get their rights. This is the biggest issue - social and economic injustice," Gandhi said.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi used to say that he is an OBC but when the demand for a caste census was made, he stated that there are only two castes — the rich and the poor.
"When the time came to give rights to OBCs, Dalits, tribals, Modi ji says there are no castes and when it is time to get votes, he says he is an OBC," Gandhi claimed.
Slamming the BJP soon after the Champai Soren-led government won the trust vote in the Jharkhand assembly, Gandhi alleged that the BJP tried to remove the government as it cannot accept that there is a tribal CM.
"The Congress, the JMM stood against them together and government was saved. They do this in all opposition-ruled states through probe agencies and money power. They (BJP) are attacking democracy, Constitution and want to suppress the voice of the people. The I.N.D.I.A. coalition will not let voice of democracy be suppressed," the Congress leader asserted at the rally held during his Manipur-to-Maharashtra Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Like Ambedkar, Adivasis & Dalits may have to ‘move out’ & embrace Buddhism, says Hemant Soren
JMM leader asserts that he was 'captured in a very planned manner' & that 'script' of his arrest was done a very long time ago – 'from 2022 itself'.

New Delhi: Former Jharkhand chief minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren, who is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), claimed Monday that the Raj Bhavan was involved in his arrest.
Addressing the Assembly ahead of the vote of trust in which his coalition proved majority, Soren said: “Mai aansu nahi bahaunga, aansu waqt ke liye rakhunga. Aap logo ke liye aansu ka koi mol nahi. Adivasi, dalito ka, pichado, ka koi mol nahi hai. Waqt aane par hum inke ek ek sawaalon ka jawaab aur inke ek ek sharyantra ka jawab badi maqool tarah se diya jayega (I will not shed tears. There is no value for the tears of Adivasis, Dalits and other marginalised in the country. I will give a befitting answer to the injustices when time comes).”
Soren, who was arrested on 31 January, is currently in five-day custody of the ED since 2 February. The ED has accused the JMM executive president of being a key beneficiary in alleged land-related irregularities in Ranchi.
