India Dalit–Adivasi–SC/ST News Bulletin
01 July to 05 July 2026.

Namaskar! Jai Bhim! Namo Buddhay!

Welcome to this weekly bulletin covering important developments related to Dalits, Adivasis, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, the Buddhist community, and the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar across India.
National Update
Across the country, Dalit and Adivasi organisations continued to demand stronger implementation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Civil society groups also called for speedy investigations in caste-based violence cases and greater protection for victims and their families.
Gujarat
Dalit organisations intensified preparations to observe the tenth anniversary of the Una flogging incident. Public meetings, awareness programmes, youth gatherings and memorial events are being planned to remember the struggle for dignity and justice and to renew the demand for equality.
Tamil Nadu
The biggest development of the week came from Mayiladuthurai district.
A 19-year-old Dalit youth and a 17-year-old girl from a Most Backward Class community were found dead. Police arrested five people, including the girl's father, and are investigating the case as a suspected honour killing linked to an inter-caste relationship. The incident has once again highlighted the continuing challenges faced by inter-caste couples in India.
Authorities also assured compensation and legal action in another case involving the death of a Dalit youth, following demands from family members and local organisations.
Maharashtra
Ambedkarite organisations continued planning educational programmes, social awareness campaigns and Buddhist community activities during July, with emphasis on constitutional values, social justice and youth participation.
Other States
During this period, no major verified Dalit, Adivasi or Buddhist developments received widespread national coverage from states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha and West Bengal.
However, local organisations across several states continued community meetings, legal awareness programmes and campaigns promoting education, constitutional rights and social equality.
Editorial Note
Every caste-based atrocity is not merely a law-and-order issue. It is a reminder that constitutional values of equality, liberty and fraternity require continuous protection and collective commitment.
The struggle for social justice continues through education, legal awareness, democratic participation and peaceful constitutional action.
Closing
Those were the major Dalit, Adivasi, SC/ST, Buddhist and Ambedkar-related developments from 1 July to 5 July 2026.
