UP horror: 9-year-old dalit girl ‘gang-raped’ by 5 minors near school ground
SHAHJAHANPUR: Five minors have been booked for allegedly gang-raping a nine-year-old dalit girl in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur, police said on Saturday.
Circle officer (Tilhar) Vidush Saxena told PTI that the incident occurred on Friday evening when the girl was playing with other children at a school ground.
The accused minors, aged between 10 and 14 years, allegedly took her to a nearby field.
Citing the FIR, Saxena said the girl’s family alleged that the accused minors gang-raped her in the field and fled after being spotted by the field owner.
The girl later returned home and informed her mother about the incident, following which a complaint was filed and a case was registered late on Friday night, the officer said.
Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The accused minors are being questioned in the presence of their guardians, while the survivor has been sent for a medical examination, police said.

Davanagere (Karnataka): An allegation of Dalits being prevented from entering a temple has surfaced in Davanagere, Karnataka. The incident reportedly occurred in the Channagiri taluk of the district on Friday night. Three Dalits filed a complaint at the Basavapatna police station, alleging that a group of 20 people attacked them while they were entering the temple.
As soon as the incident came to light, Tehsildar Nagaraj, AC Dr. Channappa, SP H.T. Shekhar, and police force visited Malalakere village. They inspected the area and escorted the Dalits inside the temple. Following this, they held a meeting with leaders of both communities in the village and instructed them to live in harmony.
According to the police, the victims told them that the ‘Ajji Habba’ festival was being celebrated on Friday. While returning from the festival, they were attacked by 20 people on their way to the temple. They were not allowed inside. Meanwhile, a leader from the other community denied these allegations. He said, “They were trying to enter the temple after consuming alcohol, so they were stopped.”
PSI Imtiaz of Basavapatna police station said, “Last night, there was a minor clash between two groups. Dalits alleged that they were not allowed to enter the temple, while the other group claimed they were drunk. A peace meeting was held in the presence of members of both groups and officials.” A complaint has been filed against a total of 42 people at the Basavapatna police station.
Channagiri Assistant Commissioner (AC) Channappa said, “A case of SC-ST atrocities has been registered at the Basavapatna police station. We will take action against the culprits.” He further said that the youths who were attacked are being treated at the Chigateri District Hospital.
Channappa said, “The police are investigating the matter. The truth will emerge only after the investigation. No one should take the law into their own hands. We have resolved this dispute by allowing the Dalits to enter the temple and perform puja.”

घटना की जानकारी मिलते ही तहसीलदार नागराज, एसी डॉ. चन्नप्पा, एसपी एचटी शेखर और पुलिस बल मलालाकेरे गांव पहुंचे। उन्होंने इलाके का मुआयना किया और दलितों को मंदिर के अंदर ले गए। इसके बाद उन्होंने गांव में दोनों समुदायों के नेताओं के साथ बैठक की और उन्हें सद्भाव से रहने का निर्देश दिया।
पुलिस के अनुसार, पीड़ितों ने बताया कि शुक्रवार को 'अज्जी हब्बा' त्योहार मनाया जा रहा था। त्योहार से लौटते समय मंदिर जाते हुए उन पर 20 लोगों ने हमला कर दिया। उन्हें अंदर नहीं जाने दिया गया। वहीं, दूसरे समुदाय के एक नेता ने इन आरोपों का खंडन किया। उन्होंने कहा, “वे शराब पीकर मंदिर में प्रवेश करने की कोशिश कर रहे थे, इसलिए उन्हें रोका गया।”
बसावपटना पुलिस स्टेशन के पीएसआई इम्तियाज ने बताया, “कल रात दो गुटों के बीच मामूली झड़प हुई। दलितों ने आरोप लगाया कि उन्हें मंदिर में प्रवेश नहीं करने दिया गया, जबकि दूसरे गुट ने दावा किया कि वे नशे में थे। दोनों गुटों के सदस्यों और अधिकारियों की मौजूदगी में शांति बैठक हुई।” बसावपटना पुलिस स्टेशन में कुल 42 लोगों के खिलाफ शिकायत दर्ज की गई है।
चन्नागिरी के सहायक आयुक्त (एसी) चन्नाप्पा ने कहा, “बसवापटना पुलिस स्टेशन में अनुसूचित जाति-अनुसूचित जनजाति पर अत्याचार का मामला दर्ज किया गया है। दोषियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी।” उन्होंने आगे बताया कि जिन युवकों पर हमला हुआ है, उनका इलाज चिगाटेरी जिला अस्पताल में चल रहा है।
चन्नप्पा ने कहा, “पुलिस मामले की जांच कर रही है। जांच के बाद ही सच्चाई सामने आएगी। किसी को भी कानून अपने हाथ में नहीं लेना चाहिए। हमने दलितों को मंदिर में प्रवेश करने और पूजा करने की अनुमति देकर इस विवाद को सुलझा लिया है।”

Govt teacher suspended for raping Class 11 Dalit student in Churu
Jhunjhunu: A physical training instructor (PTI) at a govt school in Churu district was suspended Friday following allegations of raping a 16-year-old Class 11 Dalit student. Outraged family members and local villagers locked the main gate of the school under the Sandwa police station area and staged a demonstration, demanding the teacher’s immediate arrest.
The protest disrupted school operations for nearly two hours before police persuaded the locals to unlock the premises and allow students inside.
According to Sandwa SHO Mahendra Kumar, the survivor’s father filed a complaint stating that the incident occurred on July 30. The girl had gone to school as usual but went missing after recess. Prompted by school staff, her father began searching for her. Around 12:30pm, the survivor returned to the school premises in a visibly shaken state.
She later disclosed to her family that the accused PTI had signalled her to come outside the school gate around 10:20am. The teacher allegedly coaxed and pressured her onto his motorcycle, taking her to his empty residence nearby. There, he allegedly locked her inside a room and sexually assaulted her before letting her go.
Taking administrative action given the gravity of the matter, Churu District Education Officer Sajjan Singh Saini suspended the accused teacher with immediate effect and initiated a formal departmental inquiry.
Police confirmed that the survivor’s medical examination has been conducted and a case has been registered under relevant sections, including POCSO and SC/ST Acts. The accused fled the village shortly after the incident and remains at large.
Dy SP Darjaram Bos is leading the investigation, and special police teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the absconding govt teacher.

विरोध प्रदर्शन के कारण स्कूल का कामकाज लगभग दो घंटे तक बाधित रहा, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने स्थानीय लोगों को परिसर का ताला खोलने और छात्रों को अंदर जाने की अनुमति देने के लिए राजी किया।

बाद में उसने अपने परिवार को बताया कि आरोपी पीटीआई ने उसे सुबह करीब 10:20 बजे स्कूल के गेट के बाहर आने का इशारा किया था। आरोप है कि शिक्षक ने उसे बहला-फुसलाकर और दबाव डालकर अपनी मोटरसाइकिल पर बिठाया और पास ही स्थित अपने खाली घर ले गया। वहां उसने कथित तौर पर उसे एक कमरे में बंद कर दिया और उसे छोड़ने से पहले उसका यौन उत्पीड़न किया।
मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए प्रशासनिक कार्रवाई करते हुए चूरू जिला शिक्षा अधिकारी सज्जन सिंह सैनी ने आरोपी शिक्षक को तत्काल प्रभाव से निलंबित कर दिया और औपचारिक विभागीय जांच शुरू कर दी।
पुलिस ने पुष्टि की है कि पीड़ित की चिकित्सा जांच करा ली गई है और पीओसीएसओ और एससी/एसटी अधिनियमों सहित संबंधित धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है। आरोपी घटना के तुरंत बाद गांव से फरार हो गया और अभी तक फरार है।

Dalits allege assault for entering temple in Channagiri village, officials hold conciliatory meeting
DAVANAGERE: People from a particular community allegedly assaulted Dalits for entering a temple at Belalagere village in Channagiri taluk on Friday. This has led to allegation that the practice of untouchability still exists in villages.
The villagers were celebrating the Ajji Habba festival at the village temple. After the celebrations ended, three Dalits were entering the temple when a group of about 20 people from another community allegedly assaulted them, the Dalits have alleged.
The victims allege that they were assaulted because they are Dalits and for entering the temple. The victims have filed a complaint against those who assaulted them at the Basavapatna police station. Police Superintendent H T Shekhar and district Deputy Commissioner Gangadharaswamy visited and inspected the spot.
After the report was aired on Public TV on Saturday, officials who learned about the matter also visited Malalakere village. Fearing that the situation could escalate, tahsildar Nagaraj, Assistant Commissioner Dr Channappa, and police personnel went to the spot and took the Dalits inside the temple.
Officials also held a meeting with leaders of both communities. They instructed people from both communities to live harmoniously. Meanwhile, an atrocity case has been registered against a total of 42 people who assaulted the Dalits.
